Board of Directors and Management
- James E. Biorge, Founder, Chairman, acting President and CEO.
- Mr. Biorge has 28 years of business experience with the last 16 years leading the smart card industry in technology development and is the author of three method patent applications pertaining to payment, loyalty and healthcare applications. In acquiring this expertise, Mr. Biorge served as the CEO of IC One/SmartChip Technologies. Under the direction of Mr. Biorge, IC One went from a start up company in 1997 to a $400 million public company in September 1999 when Mr. Biorge resigned to build 1steTech. Mr. Biorge also founded CardOne Corp. and CardOne Development in 1993 & 1994 respectively and served as Chairman and President for both corporations, culminating three years of research and development with the chip manufacturers in Europe and key individuals and companies in the USA. Mr. Biorge began his executive service as President for Nu-Clear Communications in 1986. Nu-Clear was the Master Agent for VectorOne a division of Quest/US West introducing cellular phone technology in Utah. James directed the training, installation and sales over the agents for VectorOne consisting of AT&T, Rocky Mountain Telephone, Salt Lake Telephone and Skaggs Telecommunications Service. Mr. Biorge worked in the leasing and insurance industries prior to accepting the position as President of Nu-Clear communications.
- Lloyd Merrifield, Director.
- Mr. Merrifield is a co-founder and director of a group of funds that represent the largest investment in 1steTech with more than $5 million invested to date. Mr. Merrifield has more than 25 years background in sales and management of securities and business investments on an international basis.
- Dan C. Simons, Director.
- Mr. Simons is a designated CCIM and is President of Simons and Company, Inc., a licensed Utah Real Estate Brokerage, Development, and Consulting agency concentrating in the sale and leasing of commercial, investment, retail, land, and industrial properties for 43 years. Mr. Simons is or has served as president, managing or general partner of Insurance Factoring Company, Real Estate Consultants, Drill Sergeant, South Shore Medical Transcription, Geodyne II, Alpine Limited, Traverse Ridge, Frontier Auto, Pioneer Dodge, Peck and Shaw Buick, Opel, GMC, GMC Motor Coach, and Rolls Royce. He is a past director for Valley Bank's Mortgage Company, Valley Mortgage, director of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors, Utah Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, National and Utah Apartment Association, having served as President and Regional Vice President of the Salt Lake and Utah Association of Realtors and the Utah Apartment Association. Mr. Simons is the former chairman of the Sandy Arts Foundation, Facilities Committee and the Legislative Committees of the Salt Lake, Utah and National Association of Realtors.
- Billy Campbell, Advisory Board.
- Mr. Campbell is the President of Discovery Channel US and President of Miramax Television. Mr. Campbell served as Executive Vice President of CBS Entertainment for three years. Before joining CBS, he was Senior Vice President, Drama Development at Warner Bros. Television. Mr. Campbell also serves on the boards of The Education Management Corporation (EDMC); Movietown.com; Crescent Jewelers; NATPE (The National Association of Television and Production Executives); HRTS (The Hollywood Radio and Television Society), and the Nature Conservancy of California. Mr. Campbell is a 1982 graduate of Harvard College (BA, economics) and a 1987 graduate of the Harvard Business School (MBA).
- Amy Grant, Co-Founder.
- Mrs. Grant has 40 years experience in successful business management and marketing, both domestic and international. Amy started her first direct selling business before her 20s, taking that direct sales business to number one in the respective company. In 1972, she was hired as Personnel, Human Resource Director to open a new elite department store a Utah-based department store chain. She was responsible for screening, hiring and training over 400 employees. Within the first year of opening, she helped take that store to number one in their chain. Three years later, another company, Valtek, Inc, hired her to set up and direct their personnel, human resource department. During this time she started another direct selling business in 1974, opening new international markets in South and Central America, Europe and Asia. This growth set new records and won International recognition. Mrs. Grant was featured in the 1981 book, "Fortune Builders and How They Did It", as the only woman of eleven self-made millionaires featured. She served as the Co-chairman of the Utah Governor's Board of Trustees for Educational Excellence, representing business and women of the state. She is a 2-time recipient of the "Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year" awards.
- A. Saeed Ghaderi, Ph.D., Director of Operations.
- Mr. Ghaderi has more than 20 years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations. Mr. Ghaderi has served as Senior Project Manager at Motorola Corporation, VP of Quality Engineering at Dell Computer Corporation, Director of Quality and Operations at 3Com Corp., VP of worldwide Engineering at Ingram Micro., and Director of Quality/ Operations at Solectron Corp. Saeed received his BS in Physics from Texas Lutheran University, Advanced Studies in Mechanical Engineering at Southern Methodist University and MSBA from Trinity University. Saeed also completed his graduate studies in metaphysics / quantum physics and holds a Doctorate degree in Philosophy. Saeed currently serves as a consultant and provides strategic directions / guidance to Accurate Diagnostics a privately held company specializing in DNA Testing and providing wide range of medical examination test and services.
- Duard Pederson, Government Sales.
- Mr. Pederson has 30 years of experience and is one of the original team of 1steTech, beginning as a consultant in 2000. Mr. Pederson is a principal owner of Nordic Industries a souvenir manufacturer. He began his technical sales career with Burroughs later UNISYS, earning the distinction, of the second highest sales in the Corporation his third year there. Mr. Pederson served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Park International, a leading souvenir manufacturer in North America. Duard served on the Board of Directors for Terra Industries and Arrowhead Energy. Mr. Pederson has an extensive military career. After receiving a commission from Fort Benning OCS in military intelligence, he continued his military education graduating from the Army Command and General Staff College and the Air University in Alabama, Air War Collage. He began his military service as a Second Lieutenant, section leader and advanced to the position of Lt. Colonel. Mr. Pederson was selected as a Foreign Area Officer and Special Operations Officer. He rose to command a Military Intelligence Battalion, and also a Joint Service Group. His last assignment was the Director of Psychological Operations at USEUCOM headquartered in Germany, overseeing all psychological operations for Europe and Africa. Mr. Pederson received his BA Political Science; BS Business Administration; MA International Relations all from the University of Utah and an MBA from Utah State University.
